Just getting started in setting a shop up and thought I would track the progress here. So far I have the basic homeowners set of tools; cut off saw, grinder, rip saw and some basic handsaws. Ordered a Grizzly 14” bandsaw as my first “real” tool and am looking forward to working with it.

Have completed quite a bit of work over the summer (dang it was hot) in getting the shop “matured”. As my skills have increased so has the layout of the shop. I have completed the basic router table stand and am really pleased with how it turned out. Also completed a portable planer cart (from some plans I found in ShopNotes), and am very pleased with that. Currently working on building a cart for my compressor and air tools.

The first four pictures are current, the last two reflect what the shop looked like this spring when I started.

Sounds like you are well on your way. I will be interested on your bandsaw. I will be in the market for one in the coming months. Keep us posted on the shop progress as well as project coming out of the shop. Welcome to LJ’s.

Hi Den,

How about posting some pictures of your shop? As an avowed shop junkie I really enjoy visiting other shops.

Hi Den,

It looks like you have a nice start on your shop. It certainly has plenty of potential and you have a decent of tools to start with. I am sure that you will enjoy the bandsaw. You are getting a good one.

Your shop looks something like mine in that you have to share space with garden tools and other household items.

Thanks for the tour. I really appreciated it.

Going to be working to get some of the garage stuff reorganized to the other garage and hopefully get some “workable” room in here. More to come…just getting started!

New Griz bandsaw is in and assembled (/cheer) and this weekend am working on reorganizing the garage to share space with lawn gear; hopefully create some clear zones of work types.

With the long weekend and gas prices being what they are, decided to stay home this week-end and work on the shop some more. Made some good progress in breaking (zoning) the areas out and getting things better organized. Here are some pictures; getting ready to bring the pegboard all the way around the other wall and will build another “high” shelf for those seldom used items (that I don’ want to part with yet :))

More to come and lots more work planned on this space.
