Based on my first experience, tried to make improvements. Basic plan is from the Wood Whisper and the wood is hard maple and purpleheart purchased from Bell Forest Products. I used a basic salad bowl finish, three coats with the first coat thinned with mineral spririts. Decided to make several of these for christmas presents too!

First picture is the first cutting and glue up, the second picture is the second cutting and glue-up and the final picture is the completed boards (I made two instead of the one).

Have been wanting to try to make a decent end grain cutting board, and thanks to some great advice and guidence that I got here at LJ, was able to complete it. Learned a lot in the process, and am ready to try more (got the bug)!

Woods I used are maple, cherry and oak, simple salad bowl finish, three coats, lightly sanded between, then buffed wiht a clean cloth. Any and all suggestions are welcome!!

Simple Router Table

Completed Router Table. I wanted to attempt some basic hand-cut joinery so thought I would attempt to create this very basic and simple router table. I was very impressed with how strong these joints are when completed, even though my skill in creating them was not! Regardless, I had lots of fun, learned a lot and am pleased with the results!

First Project - Simple Bird Feeder

Pretty lame, considering all the great stuff I see here, but I am proud of my first attempts since high school wood shop. This got my juices flowing and allowed me to continue to work on the design of the shop to allow for other projects. Nothing too fancy, but functional and not too many significant errors; I welcome any comments or suggestions!
