I love hunting and fishing and training our three labrador retrievers for hunt tests (I run HRC/UKC). We just got a "new to us" 1967 cockshutt tractor, and I'm very much looking forward to tearing up some dirt at the farm, and creating some new trails for hunting.

I love wood and really want to learn how to build stuff on my own. I have great intentions on possible ideas, but have yet to actually make anything "square", due to the fact that I just don't know what I am doing yet. I've jumped in and do have a small handful of good tools, but need to step back and learn to use them properly. I have lots of questions, so now its time for me to step up to the plate and get some answers, instead of guessing and adding to my ever expanding pile of what is now called "sacrificial wood".

Some of my questions may seem silly, but I ask because I really don't know. I am a hands on kind of girl and for the most part...reading directions isn't always enough for me to get it right.

Thanks muchly guys.
I did post a question and “think” I put it into the tools section, but i got a message telling me its waiting moderation. The blabbing up top was just a bit about me. Probably too much information…

I look forward to trolling around and learning new things.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. You’ll love woodworking and you’ll always have plenty to do if you live on a farm. Have fun.

Thank you very much Charles. This is a great place and I love the replies. I don’t pretend to be a carpenter, and need to remind myself, that everyone else at some point, started out in the same spot as I am, and that is with basic knowledge, or mabey even none at all. I don’t have a trade in carpentry, but man, I’d jump at an opportunity to take a course if one was available. My questions may seem silly or even off the wall, and may even be worded weird, but for me, they are important and I just really want to learn.

There is always something to do at the farm, and i am enjoying every single thing I come upon. Playing with wood is pretty satisfying, but I know it would be WAY better with a clearer understanding of things…....which is why i am here.

you have a wonderful day!! and thanks again.

Have your say...
