Built this chest as a birthday gift for my mom, she collects buttons / pins.

The case is walnut, the drawers are soft maple with tiger maple fronts.

The case is finished with two coats of general finish’s American Classic water based die and several coats of a 2# cut of shellac

The drawer fronts are finished with a 3 to 1 mixture of general finishes Empire Red and American Classic water based dies.

A lot of firsts for me on this one, first time making my own molding, first time doing a frame and panel(back) and my first time doing a booked matched panel (back) – i almost love the back more then i do the front of this piece :)

This box was an anniversary present for my fiancée and was my first time building a box. I enjoyed building this one, the one thing that did not go as perfectly as I would like are the hinge mortises, I did these by hand and I am sure I will get better at them with practice.

Materials: Zebra wood, Walnut Burl veneer, crushed black velvet, brass stop hinges.

This is my first finished project, I built this for my fiances 30th birthday.

Built out of poplar using Charles’s finishing schedule ( 3 coats of amber die, 2 coats mahogany gel stain, 2 coats satin gel poly)

I needed a project that I could practice creating rabbet’s (rebate’s) and dado’s. After seeing the project posted by Krisztian:

I decided this would be both useful for me and good practice.

—Carcass is out of 1/2” ply, with a 3/4” center support.
—Shelves and back are 1/4” hardboard.
—pegs for the ROS pads are 3/8” x 3/4” nylon spacers (epoxyed).. I was going to use dowels but these let the pads slide on and off freely.

Just a simple work bench built out of 2×4’s, MDF, and a piece of hardboard.
