I just watched Neil Lamens' latest episode at Funitology Productions. He mentioned that Fine Woodworking is looking for original furniture design submissions for a future special edition. Thanks Neil! I am sure there are a lot of Lumberjocks here that have some work to submit!

So, everyone check out Fine Woodworking – In The News – Wanted Original Furniture Designs

From the FWW website:

Fine Woodworking is planning a special publication on contemporary furniture design to be published in 2008. We’re looking for functional pieces that reflect an imaginative approach to design and materials selection.

Categories include tables, chairs, desks, cabinets, bookcases, bureaus, beds, and cabinetry for home entertainment and computers. The emphasis will be on contemporary forms, not period reproductions. Makers must provide professional-quality photography in digital or transparency formats and include a brief statement of design intent along with dimensions and material specifications, drawings, and brief construction notes that seem relevant.

All entries must be postmarked by Nov. 16, 2007. For return of entry materials, include a prepaid mailing envelope. Send entries to:

That should make for a great issue. Good luck all that have time to submit!

Hmmm. I wonder if they would like that rustic chair that was in the cartoon….

I’m working on the prototype as we speak!
I’d be finished but I ran out of nails.

Thanks David for posting this. What a great way to get some attention for our little group. I saw that earlier, but never gave it a thought. DOH!!!

Maybe I’ll send something in, and see what happens.

Bob – looking forward to what you are working on!

Lee – I would think you for sure have something to submit! By the way your package is in the mail.

Hi David…..........Good work man!!!!

As I’ve mentioned, I’m a big believer that some of the best work right now is coming out of the garage and basement.

Thanks for spreading the word….......Neil
