Not so much a SketchUp related blog, this. Of course the drawing is a quick doodle done in SketchUp.

I learned of a book that might be of interest here. It’s called How to Build Modern Furniture 53 by Mario Dal Fabbro. I’ve only seen a few scans of pages in the book. I worked from one of those to draw the above. I would imagine this book would be of value even if you aren’t interested in the style of furniture he shows. the construction drawings show some useful details.

It doesn’t appear that the book is still in print but you might find it at the library or through used book sources.

For those interested, the drawing has a style I made up this morning. The style is available if you want it.

By the way, the image above, except for being cropped in Picasa, was done entirely within SketchUp. Since we haven’t had a challenge lately, can anyone describe the process?

Registration to Open for SketchUp Classes

I don’t know if anyone is interested still but registration is about to open for the SketchUp classes I’m scheduled to teach in Port Townsend. Here’s the text of the e-mail I received.

Online registration for the Sketchup Classes with Dave Richards is about to open at the Peninsula College website. Probably later today. I’ll post the links on our site as soon as I get confirmation.

However the college is taking phone registration starting now. To quote Anna the local registrar:

“Maggie is at the front desk and will take care of enrollments. Students can call her at 360 385 4605. It gets pretty busy this time of year and there are only two lines, so please encourage students to leave a message if it goes to Maggie’s voicemail. She is in the office M-Th 900am-6pm and Fri 9am-1pm.”

It’d be great to meet some LumberJocks there.
