A Grumpy Comment and then I'll Be Quiet

Whenever any one of us goes to post a project we have to click on a link which reads:

“Yes, I want to post my finished project that is made of wood
If it doesn’t fit the above description (like tool gloats & upgrades, wood gloats, projects in progress etc.),
either blog it or post it in an appropriate forum. Otherwise it will be removed.”

In the past several months I’ve noticed that at least several ‘projects’ were not made of wood, or not completed, nor removed when these criteria were met.

OK, newbies to Lumberjocks can make mistakes. Probably we all have. But we all have to click that link cited above.

Technically the item below could be posted as a project. It’s made of wood, I cut it, I’m finished with it, but it’s also just a cut dowel! That’s why I’ll be posting it as a tip in my blog after a few minutes.

I don’t want the above mentioned posts to be deleted, but they should be put in the poster’s blog area. I PM’ed Cricket as to weather the stated policy is still enforced. I received no reply. (This was at least several days ago, maybe even a week.) Perhaps it’s now a free for all for project posts.

I’ll now shut my mouth and happily go back to woodworking posts.

Wowie, what a neat stick you made. I like the way you attached what looks like sandpaper to one end. What’s that groove for? Is it for tying a string so you can spin the stick.
I Will definitely be adding this to my favorites !

THANKS for sharing !

;-) Thanks Joe. It might be an advanced project! Might require a video.

I hear you, Dave! Sometimes PM’s/emails etc. get looked at and forgotten in the rush of things. Especially this time of year. PM Cricket again or post your question on the site feedback thread. The fact is that people are going to do what they want. What we need to do is educate and let it go. Hard to do sometimes, I know.

Nice sanding stick, btw. Why didn’t you do the Sanding before the glue up?

I think the new ownership is more interested in the marketing aspect of the site than it’s intended function.

I’m not intending to make a big wave, Candy. It’s kind of amusing, in a slightly irksome way to see a completely metal object make the Daily Top 3 on a woodworking forum. I’ve got a beautiful metal object that I’d like to show, but it’ll wait until I make the wooden box to keep it in. Patience is a virtue. Good things are coming!
