Usually I do projects according to my whim. At the moment I’m finishing a non-woodworking house project, but I now have two pending projects on the bench, three if you count the one I need to do before the summer weather ends. My daughter has asked me to design and build a ‘notebook holder’, two actually, so she can keep them handy at her bedside. Then at church, the gift cajon that I made came by during second service. Now I have an ORDER to make one for another congregation member. It’s a good thing it’s just a box when it comes down to it. (My wife also hinted that we could use a set of coasters!) Ah, the trials of a woodworker!

Dave, I hear what your saying. I have the same or similar problem here. Just putting the finishing on a large drop leaf table that my wife wanted. I made her one a year ago. Too small she said. So this one is bigger. Then I have an order for two matching night stands for the daughter of a close friend. Thankfully she is in no hurry. I am also just finishing a butcher block top kitchen cart for our son’s mother in law.
And I am trying desperately to work on a couple of large band saw jewelery boxes that I have patterns for. Don’t know if I’ll ever get to those.

I feel your pain. No shortage of projects here. It’s become so bad that I have a ‘To Do’ list of writing more ‘To Do’ lists!

Hang in there!

As my wife and I came in from weeding the garden this morning, she commented on the restricted aisle in the shed. I just said that when I the plywood that leans against the wall by the door and make it into the table it will be for the church, the aisle will be clear. The problem is, the table is not next on my list. ;-)

While we were weeding, I came up with an idea for a whirligig. It would feature my wife and I in the garden. I would be hoeing and she would be picking corn. I’ll make a sketch of this and file it away for the future.

CFrye, Since it’s original, most likely I’ll save it for the 2015 Whirligig Wars. If I think of something better for the WW, I may just build it during the winter.

I had an idea for a yard work whirli that I haven’t been able to bring to fruition. Maybe next year as well.
