I had this 16’ x 20’ barn style building built in ‘06 after I retired from GM. Had it wired, then installed insulation and drywall myself. I had a 6’ loft installed when the shop was built for overhead wood storage. Even installed an air conditioner/heater. I cheated myself on the wiring though. Didn’t realize at the time that I should have added a few more plug ins and 2 or 3 more 220 circuits. I’ve added a few tools since 06, notably the Grizzly GO555X bandsaw, Jet 6” jointer, Kreg router table with Triton 2 1/4 hp router and the Ridgid sander. The BOSS was nice to me the past two Christmases, birthdays and anniversaries. The Grizz is great for resawing, the jointer is way better than my old 4” Rockwell Delta and the Triton is one sweet router, everything in one box. Also as a gift from the BOSS is the DeWalt DW735 surface planer. Really love that thing. The drill press is a floor model Craftsman. My new SawStop Contractors table saw is a vast improvment over my old Craftsman 10” Flex-drive. I’m really enjoying the SawStop so far. Recieved a Delta 50-760 dust collector this past Christmas. I’ve got a Jet air cleaner hanging from the ceiling. Everything but the workbench is mounted on wheels for easy movement. The desk was made for me by my dad when I was in second grade. It’s the only thing I have that he built. While I’ve got a pretty nice shop and some really great tools I’m afraid my skills aren’t quite up to the tools. But, I’m working on it.

Darell,
You have a very clean, efficient and well organized shop space. I like the loft storage for your wood. That keeps it organized and out of the way. I can appreciate making your tools mobile. I had to do that will all of mine. You have a nice shop but it is way too clean!!! There should be some sawdust in there someplace. :)
Thanks for the pictures and letting me visit with you. I enjoyed the shop tour. Your shop is a place in which I would enjoy working.

It’s only clean because I just spent two days cleaning it up and haven’t moved on to the next project yet. It’s been over 100 degrees here this week so I got a bit lazy. Besides, I’ve been on this website for hours and hours the past 3 days. Time well spent, not wasted. But, I may fire up the a/c and get a start on the next project next week. Thanks for the kind comments.

Super looking shop…but man, it’s so clean I’m worried you’re not doing anything like me…but then I’m working towards some things now…been spending more time with my tools and getting the used ones cleaned up…I buy things at garage sales, etc…saves money that way…all my wood is pretty much dry…gotta lot a wood two to four years ago and now it’s mostly dry…5 different types …any way, you have a really sweet shop.

Barry, you ought to see it now. I’m working on a new entertainment center for our flat screen tv and the shop is a mess. You’d be proud! LOL

I should get my act together and get my workshop in order nice and clean. It would help if I had a dust collector too though, LOL. I see that great minds think alike. I too got the same saw, but went with the 56’’ table. Some days I wish I had shorter, but when I start making all new cabinets for the house I’m sure to use it. Well you have a great shop. Keep up the good work and sounds like you a good boss. LOL
