Frank Lloyd Wright’s influences on architecture and the arts and crafts style is everywhere. Buildings, bridges, stained glass, pottery, artwork, graphics, furniture and more. I’ve always admired his rendition of the barrel chair. This table is inspired by that work.
Invision quartersawn white oak, 36×72 and 29 inches high. seating 8 people.

what a wonderful chair and inspiration!
You have done a great job with using the barrel chair elements in the table. This would really look magnificent in a home.
Well done

Very well done, now what if you made it round with a leaf to extend it into an oval. I want to see it built! The drawing is simply outstanding, imagine the real table.

Dan,
Start cutting wood, Pardner, you’ve got a winner. I’ve always admired ol’ Frank myself. This is a great tribute to him.

Dan:
I like the idea of a round table with leaves.
That would make one beautiful table.

Beautiful table Dan. Now you need the matching chairs.
Are your jpgs getting cropped? It looks it. I think the problem is that they are too large to display here. One of the nice features of photobucket is that yo can set it to resize your uploads to fit blogs/forums such as LJ. If you look just above the image upload pulldowns you’ll see some small text “Max image size ### x ###” next to that is a link to set the options. Set it to message board 640×480 and all your pics will fit perfectly.

very cool, I can see my little one sitting and playing happily in the little alcove created by the legs. I know you said oak, but I can see it in walnut too.

Hello All
thanks for the nice comments !! feels really good to get feedback from you folks !!
Bob
I do have matching chairs. About 15 years ago I made my own dining set. The charts are 63 inch tall high-backs based on Frank LLoyd Wrights designs. Another one of my favorites. Perhaps someday, I will make a barrel chair. Just for fun. ..... hmmmm maybe one of my daughters would like my old stuff so I could make new ? >grin<
