Tablet Tripod Adapter

This is the prototype I just finished. I used two pieces of scrap maple, some brass rod and threaded inserts. The bottom piece of wood has a 1/4-20 insert for the tripod and a 3/8” slot routed on the topside for the tablet to sit in. I drilled two holes on the ends and epoxied the rods in. On the top piece of wood I routed a slot for the top of the tablet to sit in and drilled two end holes for the rod to go through. I used a 10-24 die to thread the rods and 10-24 inserts on the small wood knobs.

On my next one I am going to round over all the edges and lay some insulation tape on the bottom of the slots to cushion the tablet. I also think I will buy some small knurled brass knobs just for the look. I am also going to shorten the two pieces of wood slightly to bring everything more compact.

Rehabed Laundry Room

Here’s another project I did for the wife. Notice a common thread in my work? Anyway, the laundry room was old and worn out. We needed a new washer and dryer so we figured we’d update the laundry room before bringing in the new machines.

I sanded and painted the existing lower cabinets, had installed a granite top, installed a new sink and faucet, built new upper cabinets and shelves, installed a new light fixture, bought window treatments and finally installed crown molding. Anyway, here’s a picture. Thanks for looking.

Prior to the financial crisis I built and sold pet steps. Primarily for older cats and dogs so they could continue to access their favorite spots. Here are some examples of the steps I made. Except for the cat in the first picture all of the animals are volunteers. It’s pretty amazing how people want their pets in pictures. Also, cooperation was not at the top of their list. You can’t believe how many shots it took to get what we wanted.

Dovetails

Most of you will not consider this a project but I couldn’t find a section called “mission”. It’s been my mission to learn to handcut dovetails. After hundreds of attempts and many, many videos on Youtube I think I have the “rules” down. Here’s what I’ve found out. The rules are your rules. Example, always use the same pencil so you can automatically see where to cut on the inside of the line. Another example, when clearing the sockets place the end of your chisel in the scribe line and lightly tap a couple of times at 90 degrees and then hog out at 92 degrees. That way you’ll have a nice clean scribe line and wiggle room at the center of the socket. Anyway, I apologize if anyone thinks I should not have posted here. I’ve done a lot of projects that were far easier and quicker than my dovetail “mission”.
Don

My attempt at Steve Latta/LN tools...Just waiting on blades from LN

Thought I’d give it a shot. Since I didn’t want to make my own blades I ordered them from LN. They are backordered 2-3 weeks. Must be very popular items. If anyone else has homemade string inlay tools I would really like to see them.
