Building a case for my father’s flag is the driving force that inspires me to set up my shop. I only hope I can do half as good of a job building my father’s case.

I worked two jobs last winter, ALL the paychecks from one job went towards outfitting the shop with toys, err, tools! I have to say or scream, I love Craigslist! I’ve been fortunate to score some really good deals on some nice stuff. I will probably do one HUGE tool gloat, when I have a few extra minutes.

Thourough is an understatement, so I didn’t have time for a “Complete” tour of your shop! I have a life, not a good one, but a life just the same, that I must get back to!!! Lol. I’ll stop in when I have a moment and have another look around your shop.
I’m doing my best to outfit my shop by any means possible; thrifty spending, inovative building and, of course, stealing every good idea that I can. Can you say CRAIGSLIST....I thought you could!!

No drum sander, not until I build one. I have a DeWalt RAS that I may try to make a drum sander attachment for. If that doesn’t pan out I’ll just make a free standing unit.

You are so right about dust control!!! Even though you get two lungs, it’s a pretty good idea to keep them both functioning at their peak. I’m actually just taking a brake from building my ambient air cleaner, a repurposed variable speed, squirrel cage furnace blower. I’m using a 1” generic pre-filter, a 1” MERV 4 secondary filter on the intake side of things and then a 4”~5” MERV 9 filter on the exhaust end. I have upgraded my 2HP HF DC with the Wynn 35A274NANO canister filter and will soon be adding a “Top Hat” Thein Baffle pre-seperator. When my air cleaner is combined with my 2HP HF DC, that connects to ALL of my machines, I think that I’ll be able to breathe easily. I also plan on making a sanding table, just for good measure.

Well, gentlemen, I have been slacking off long enough!!! It is time to retun to the shop and build me a “Lung Retainer”, AKA an abient air cleaner.

DIY – that was a joke about the drum sander I was referring to the dryer. You might be able to modify it into a tumbler for polishing bits of wood.

Yeah, I not that tall (5’ 8.5”, the 1/2” IS important) & it went right over my head!!!

I’m losing a lot of space in the “Workshop” with that dryer & I will soon lose even more when I move the washer next to it. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. I will be building a 6’ x 10’, dedicated “Spray/Finishing Booth”, complete with lighting, forced fresh air & vented outside, in the space they formerly occuppied. Plus I won’t have to leave the shop to do my laundry. All I need now is a microwave and mini fridge & I’ll never need to leave the shop!!!

Always have fresh clean shop clothes! Be sure to empty out your pockets before you wash shop clothes….not …. that ….. i ….. would …. know…. anything …....’bout …..that…...nope ….. not me…..that’s not my 6” steel ruler…..and those screws could be anyone’s
