« Part 2: My "Turn" at Bat.... Part 3 of Stylin' Stylus: aka My Pen Blog series no next part

It has been a while, a looooooooooong while, since posting here on my pen blog….
Mostly due to my proclivity towards procrastination and lack of production.
My original goal, of several pens a week, was….. well, lofty at best….
& more along the lines of an out right lie to myself!!!

It is OK though, I have forgiven myself and have granted myself a pardon.

As I looked back, I realized I neglected to post two Pen & Pencil sets….
One set was for my nephew, that graduated law school.
The other for his sister (yeah, my niece), who graduated from college.

These be them….

My buddies over on the “Stumpy Thread” may remember these….
I can’t remember what wood was used for the main bodies.
The accent stripes are purpleheart & yellowheart. (Thanks Jeff: JL7)
The important thing is, I made them & they were well received!!!

That is all ancient history though….
My original intent, of this blog post, is to show today’s pen turnings.

My good friend, “The Chef”, had out of town guests….
His father & girlfriend were visiting, so I decided to present them with a gift.
I also decided to experiment with the “Captain Eddie Casstelin: 12 Cent Pen Kit”!!!
I have been wanting to try my had at this for a while.
There is no such thing as scraps…. just remnants OR firewood!!! (Right, Candy???)
Soooo, nothing fancy or exotic here, just remnants.
For the record…. one is made from Oak, the other from Jatoba & Maple.

I turned less than planned…. and I have less scraps, err remnants & more gifts given!!!

Yup, nothin’ special….
That’s why these ain’t in a “Project Post”!!!

I’m sitting down now, kicking my feet up & having a cold one.
I may not have earned it…. But football is on!!!

Great pens, DIY. I really like the first two sets.

Very nice! Did you do these with a draw knife? May be a spoke shave! If so that is some of the finest knife work I have ever seen…..

Chris,
Thanks. My niece & nephew agreed with you!!!

Bill,
Gracias.
The striped one you say….
remnants from my end grain cutting board.

Jeff,
Much appreciated.
With Christmas gift building season upon us…. I’m hoping for several hat tricks!!!

Dave,
No draw knife…. no spoke shave…. just an electron killing lathe!!!
Sorry, to disappoint!!! ;^(

Great to see the work. If we lived closer I would have you show me how to make them.
