Is anyone out there interested in assisting in building shadow boxes & cutting boards(or anything else) that will be sold for charity at the Our Forgotten Warriors concert in September? This is just something I have come up with over the past few days so I don’t have much of anything going yet. This is mainly to see if there is enough interest to make it viable. Anyone is welcome to assist, we can work out the logistics as we go.

I have become very involved with an incredible organization that is helping our US Military Veterans who are suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) & Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The program is called Our Forgotten Warriors & is part of the Wounded Warriors Program. In very simple terms the program is assisting soldiers with TBI & PTSD to get re integrated into society. While our military does an amazing job rehabilitating their bodies they do not have the resources or expertise to help these people become productive members of society. For hundreds of years these soldiers have been forgotten and left to a life of isolation which has often lead to “self medicating”(i.e. Alcohol & Drugs) and/or suicide.

The Forgotten Warriors program is holding a charity concert in September to try and raise additional funds to get their facilities built & their staff hired. They have some amazing individuals who are giving them some incredible funding. However, they are still short of their goal. Two weeks ago they held a barbecue and my wife donated some cakes from her business. For a first time even it was pretty good & they were able to raise $2,700.

One idea I have had is to setup a booth at the concert selling shadow boxes & cutting boards with 100% of the proceeds going to Our Forgotten Warriors. Most of the attendees will be military personnel from Western Washington mostly Fort Lewis & McChord AFB. The problem is I am just one man & while I can put 15-20 hours a week into building these items I could really use some help if I want to make this idea a reality.

If you would be interested please reply to this blog or send me a pm & I will contact you directly.

If you know someone else who might be interested please pass this along to them.

I would love to donate by building some items to be sold, but it’ll have to wait until I land a new job. I’ve been in the unemployed ranks for 9 months now and money is VERY tight.
