Well, its been a long time and a lot of changes in my life…for the better :>)
After a prolonged divorce and selling and buying houses I’m now back with all my equipment in a one car garage :>( NOT good! Everything is crammed in there and virtually unusable. Love the new house…hate not having a shop. Going from a full basement shop with acres of space to nothing is painful. I did manage to finish a project just as I was moving out of the old place (see projects for the dominoes table) It came out very good, but who knows when the next project will happen. I will be trying to get the money together for a new shop. Looking at a three car garage in the back not sure of size or style yet. Have talked with an electrician who wisely suggested a separate electric entry to ensure I have plenty of power. Also thinking of plumbing for at least a sink. Any advice you guys have this is the time to chime in as I begin the planning stage. I’d appreciate any advice you can give. So, single again with a new place and no shop…all I need now is the shop and life is perfect…right? LOL More to come…

Jim, Great to see you back. Sorry to hear about the changes.
A new shop sounds like just the ticket. I too would truly miss my basement if I had to leave. Plumbing sounds like a good idea if it is detached. Another good option that I would love to have one day is an outdoor or insulated closet for the air compressor and dust collector.

Hope to see you around more, keep us posted on the progress of the new shop.

Sounds like you managed to escape without too much of a mauling.

I went from a married man with four young kids owed our home huge backyard you could drive a car around a huge shed with 6×3.2 M high doors, (originally it was a bread van shed) In 1/3 of it Ibuilt a band room and Music area for No 1 son, a massive storage area for the family stuff and built a play loft for the others, then had 2/3 of it for a workshop.

Came home from the ARMY and was chucked out by the cops and given an AVO to boot.

Couldn’t not even see my kids without a adult supervisor.

Ended up boarding in a share house with nothing until settlement then through a small miracle set up again.

Hence the “New name of the house”

Thanks guys for the advice and words of encouragement. I am looking forward and trying to get enough money together to build a three car garage in the back for a shop…I want my car in the current garage as well…LOL
