Today a kind lady from DHL came by and dropped of a rather small, heavy square package…

This package was not expected today but as a kid on Christmas, I took a knife and tore it open… and inside was..

WOOD! Best day this year!
I started unpacking the wood on my bed…

And more wood!

So many samples that I had to rearrange them to fit on the bed.

A total of 197 samples of Australian and Oceanian flora, a gift from a wood collector named Col Martin. It’s for my journeyman cabinet and I will ofc post them here on my “Wood of the Day” blog series…

Some closer pictures

I now have a total of 216 samples that need finishing and paper etiquette with name.

That is an awesome package. I assume the samples were labelled for identification?

Also, it may be an optical illusion, but it looks like you have a hefty dip in the middle of your bed. Maybe some shop-made slats are in order?

-- This is not the signature line you are looking for.

Ofc they are. =) That’s the only way to share wood, collector to collector.

Yes, there is a dent where the cats lay sleeping before I started unpacking, it was gone after I had taken the pictures. They always sleep in the same spot, even at night.

Quilt comes to mind
