"The Bad" - 4 replies
Many of you saw my project “The Ugly”. There were many comments about it that actually had me laughing out loud. You guys kill me. You are why I keep coming back to this site everyday. I say that with the up-most sincerity! One of our fellow LJ’s (Oldnovice) commented ”If we truly now have the UGLY and the site is filled ...

Drama - Geesh! - 30 replies
I joined this forum to share, discuss and to learn about woodworking and in the process I have made some good friends. Here lately it has developed a “high school click” mentality. The “he said, she said, finger pointing and putting people down” has become a ramped infection into what I initially perceived to be an in...

Jointer Blades - 5 replies
Hey Y’all, I am a bit of a quandary. I have a 1930’s model “Boise Crane” jointer. The blades got dull so I took them to the filing shop. They called and told me that the blades didn’t have enough metal left for them to be used safely after sharpening them. The last time they were sharpened was the last. Do any of you outstandingly great peo...

Staining oak veneer - 4 replies
I have a dresser with oak veneer that I want to stain a dark color. I used Handi-Strip liquid stripper from Lowes to remove the previous poly/stain and sanded the surface clean. I’ve tried Minwax and Cabot stain as well as Minwax Gel stain. They all stain it but the color is very light. I let the stain sit for 15 minutes before wiping it off...

Who does inlay ? - 32 replies
Hello fellow woodworkers! I have incorporated some inlay into some of my projects over the years. The learning of the inlay process is what first drew me to the scroll saw. I have always been drawn to the illusion of two pieces of wood becoming one. If done correctly, it becomes a seamless mesh of the two species and in turn becomes a beautiful ...

My Scroll Saw - 23 replies
I have come to the very fore gone conclusion that I will as long as I do wood working or till I die, which will probably be ending at the same exact moment,…I will have a scroll saw in my shop. Even if I do not use it, it will always be an ornament in my work area. Some of you may have read my rant on quality being extinct. My scroll saw had to ...

I don’t know if it is just me or if this “problem” has affected any of you other wood workers. Like many of us, I enjoy it when people dote over my projects. It makes it all worth wild to me to know that there are actually people that think my work is worth having. For years, I never sold my woodworking pieces. I just took the sheer enjoyment th...

I AM SPINNING MY WHEELS! - 33 replies
It seems like everything has come to a screeching halt with my wood working. I sit at work all say thinking “Boy, if I were at home I could be doing so and so…”. But, when I get home I always find out there is some shortage of wood or lack of some tool,...OR if I do get a board cut I turn out screwing it up! I can’t seem ...

Who has bandsaws IN STOCK? - 12 replies
I have been in the market for a new 18 inch band saw for some time now. I initally wanted a Grizzly, but I got a HUGE run around from them and then found out that they are on back order!I then went to woodcraft and saw a Rikon for a really good price. It actually had a 2 1/2 horsepower motor as opposed to the Grizzly with a 2 hp motor AND it was...
