I began finishing two of the four tables we built over the weekend. My brother in law’s pregnant wife was due the Tuesday after our build, so I volunteered to finish his table. After much discussion, we also agreed to give “my” table to my father in law (it was his barn, after all). That means, I’m finishing two of the four tables and I’m going to go back and build a fifth table for myself.
The table before finishing, without the barn wood in the shadow box:
Brent laying out the wood for the shadow box:
My make-shift spray booth was just plastic sheeting clamped to my garage door. I set up a box fan to blow away from me.
After a coat of primer:
After a coat of finish paint:
I screwed up pretty major when i started painting the tables. I used a latex paint, so the paint is taking forever to cure. The tables are sitting in my bedroom right now in hopes that the lower humidity and constant temperature will make the paint harden. I’m going to give it another week or so, then put on the final coat.
Thanks for looking.
