...Go oft awry

Was planing to get some woodwork done on x-mas gifts today, but Friday, came home went to turn on one light (living room) and off the other (above the stairs), the lights browned out then went off.
That circuit has taken out the living room, one light in the kitchen, light above the steps, front bath room, hall light, light in the shower in the other bathroom and the outside light on the end of the house.

Replaced the switches, all in the same box (2 3-way, 1 4-way and 1 on/off switch), breaker and a GFI and still no light.

I guess it’s time to call an electrician.

Tis the season I guess. Yesterday the house of friends of ours had an electical malfunction of some sort. Like a serious overload and the whole house shorted and blew the electric meter right off the house. No fire though- but every appliance and etc. etc. is trashed. The entire house will have to be rewired. They had one of those big Amish type advertised as Amish type but PLUG in heater- only 110 not 220. My guess is that heater started the calamity. Hope you figure out your problem soon. :)
