Website:

I'm 32, married to my best friend Elizabeth , and am blessed with an incredible 3 year old daughter Abby. I'm originally from South Carolina, and after finishing my degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University (hence my screen name!), I've spent the last 10 years or so bouncing around the northeastearn US with my company. Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and in March 2010 we moved to Virginia. We've loved every place we've lived but it's nice to be a little closer to home. I've always been kind of 'handy', and though my career has shifted over the years from engineering to marketing, I still have a passion for building things and problem solving, which have manifested into my love for woodworking. I have a very modest set of tools ( see my workshop page), but have been able to make a few things that my wife enjoys. I took a bit of a hiatus over the last few years since our place in PA had a tiny 1 car garage. Our new place has a nice size 2 car garage that I'll be setting up as my shop. I'll have half of it full time and the other half as needed. I have a few small house projects (molding, etc) that I'm working on now. When those are done I'll be working on the shop. I need electrical, lighting, and dust collection to get ready for my first 'major' project in quite a while: built-in cabinets and bookshelves dor the recesses on either side of our fireplace. I'll plan to share my progress as I go along, and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for all of you experts!

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
tom

Welcome. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.

Welcome to Lumberjocks, David. I think that you have made an excellent start. Your 32 years old and look at what you have accomplished. I love to see someone get such an excellent head start in woodworking. I was 55 years old before I had my carport enclosed. You have already accomplished much and if you stick with it there is no telling what you will be doing in woodworking in 20 years. Congratulations!!!! You have made a wonderful start at having a great work space. Welcome to Lumberjocks – it’s a great place for woodworkers.

Welcome to Lumberjocks,

You’ll meet some really great people, and fine woodworkers running around here.

Should have joined before moving out of the Pennsylvania area, as we could have gotten together.

Thanks everybody! Y’all really know how to make someone feel at home!

Lee:
It is definitely too bad. I lived in Kennett Square, PA, which I think is relatively close to you. I still travel to Wilmington, DE occasionally for work, so maybe we could catch up sometime. I’d love to buy you a beverage of your choice and check out your shop!

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself almost a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
