Retired Electronics Engineer. I purchased my first major power tool in thev early 70's, it was a Shopsmith 500. It was the only tool that I had when I made the Hoosier cupboard, It is still serving me fine for all small cuts from a table saw.
For larger boards, as you can see, that I set up one of my two tablesaws, or one of my two radials.
You may be wondering, why do I have two of so many peices of equipment, and the reason is , one time we moved to Severville Tenn. found the mountain home that we liked, the only problem was that the owner had a fully equiped shop that he was trying to sell, and I made a deal with them for house, lock stock, and barrell of tools.
I have been interested in ww alll my life. My Father owened and operated the Femelat Mfg. Co., in downtown Houston. He made furniture and special orders such as the Spiral Stair case in the Old Rice Hotel in Houston. I would be really fortunant to have known him, but he died when I was just turning three.
I do have a few of his old hand planes and other tools. I suppose that is where I became interested in woodworking.
