Last hunting season I found a nice big cherry burl on a dead tree that was still standing. We had our camp work day this past weekend so I cut down the burl while I was there.

I already had a nice cherry log that my neighbor gave me about three months ago.

A friend of mine told me about a guy that could cut them and his mill was only a few miles from my house. Since I had the burl on my trailer I figured I would load the log and get them cut.The guy that milled the wood for me had a really cool setup and he only charged me $40. He said his uncle owned the place but he has gotten to old to run the mill.

And this is what I ended up with.

Thanks for looking.

I bet you had a great time watch this being cut. That a great price for milling and a even greater batch of cherry, which is my all time fav. thanks for sharing ….Blkcherry

You’re right! I didn’t want to leave when he was done. I even gave him my # and told him I would be willing to help for free.

I saved a few chunks for my son to turn. I’m not any good with the lathe.

Amazing. Love the story, and the wood. A wonderful day for you.
