My son
Came to me and said he was going to propose on his next trip to Mexico and so we went ring shopping
Well after seeing the box he was going to use I asked if I could build one for the special day!
I looked at others on the web and came up with this design of my own
It needed to be small to fit in his pocket
Made from maple and I think mahogany
It is a small bandsaw box
I am happy with it

That is awesome. I’m sure she will treasure the box as well as the ring. Great work

Very nice work, especially since it’s so small. Looks like you found some contrasting wood! :-) Did you apply a dark stain to the whole thing?

Thanks guys
It turned out nice for my first try
As for the wood I still need more

I have a friend wanting two boxes the size of a shoe box
For one I ordered a .925 sterling pendant that is huge in the shape of a jaguar head
1 oz will be mounted on top for the handle

Oh
As for stain ?
No
It was a bad choice in clear coat spray
Turned it dark

Still need to clean it up but it was closest to me on the bench so I grabbed it

Awesome! Before I had any woodworking skills, I made my own ring box when I proposed. Although it is flawed, I’m still proud of it. I’ll have to post it here some time.
Thanks for sharing, and it’s good you’re close enough to your son to do that for him.
