Need help IDing mystery timber - 7 replies Found these two boards in the lumber pile in my shop. Pretty sure I knew what they were when I bought them, but you know how that goes. Only thing I know for sure is they aren’t domestic. Very heavy, very hard, slightly open grain, strange spots of color all over them. Anyone have an idea what they are? |

Handy tip for a drill depth stop - 5 replies I needed a drill bit collar for a 9/32” drill bit to keep me from drilling too deeply in a project. I once bought a four piece set of these collars but 9/32” was not one of the sizes included. What to do? Ah ha! You know those fat little rubber bands that are used for banding calves? Problem with Powermatic bandsaw - 4 replies I am the owner of a 14” Powermatic bandsaw. The first things I upgraded were urethane tires, Carter guide system, Carter tension spring, and a carbide tooth resaw blade. The saw is now a resaw machine. 1" MDF in Virginia? - 4 replies Hate to be a bother, but where can one go for 1” MDF? All the big box stores stock is 3/4”. Speaker builders use a lot of 1” MDF and I am looking to build a pair of transmission towers. Shipping is out of the question since these sheets will be very heavy. Looking for furniture grade plywood in Northern VA - 7 replies I live in Northern Virginia and I can’t find plywood with hardwood veneers anywhere. Currently looking for 1/4” walnut, but will need some 3/4” cherry soon as well. I am near Culpeper, Warrenton, Manassas, Fredericksburg, etc… I am willing to drive 100 miles if I have to.
