Sanding belts for Jet 16/32 drum sander? - 12 replies
Where are you guys buying your belts for these things? I checked Woodcraft and they want $50 for four belts. I like to make end grain cutting boards and can go through a belt a day.

Need help IDing mystery timber - 7 replies
Found these two boards in the lumber pile in my shop. Pretty sure I knew what they were when I bought them, but you know how that goes. Only thing I know for sure is they aren’t domestic. Very heavy, very hard, slightly open grain, strange spots of color all over them. Anyone have an idea what they are?

Salad bowl finish on cutting boards. How? - 5 replies
Yes, I know there is a topic about nine below this one on finishing cutting boards but it doesn’t address my immediate needs. I am nearly done sanding my first three cutting boards and am rapidly getting to the finish stage. I have a new can of Behlen salad bowl finish and I’ve heard that it should be thinned down before applying ...

Handy tip for a drill depth stop - 5 replies
I needed a drill bit collar for a 9/32” drill bit to keep me from drilling too deeply in a project. I once bought a four piece set of these collars but 9/32” was not one of the sizes included. What to do? Ah ha! You know those fat little rubber bands that are used for banding calves? Worked like a charm. I actually like these ...

Problem with Powermatic bandsaw - 4 replies
I am the owner of a 14” Powermatic bandsaw. The first things I upgraded were urethane tires, Carter guide system, Carter tension spring, and a carbide tooth resaw blade. The saw is now a resaw machine. One problem – the fence is not perpendicular to the table. I’ve checked it all out and I can’t see any way to adjust...

1" MDF in Virginia? - 4 replies
Hate to be a bother, but where can one go for 1” MDF? All the big box stores stock is 3/4”. Speaker builders use a lot of 1” MDF and I am looking to build a pair of transmission towers. Shipping is out of the question since these sheets will be very heavy. I need to be able to go get it myself with my truck. Thanks in ad...

I live in Northern Virginia and I can’t find plywood with hardwood veneers anywhere. Currently looking for 1/4” walnut, but will need some 3/4” cherry soon as well. I am near Culpeper, Warrenton, Manassas, Fredericksburg, etc… I am willing to drive 100 miles if I have to. I just need the stuff!

Justifying new tools - 16 replies
Not sure if you guys do this, but I consider a project to be a success if I can score a new tool out of it. Wife wanted a big run-in shed for her horses so I “needed” a coil roofing nailer to do the job. SWMBO wanted a bathroom remodeled so I scored a rather nice tile saw. All well and good. This latest desire of hers was for a l...

Dimenions for tea box compartments? - 4 replies
Hello. I wish to make a tea box for a Christmas gift, but am unsure how large to make the compartments. I’ve looked all over online and even did a search here. While I turned up many nice examples of tea boxes, there weren’t any details of dimensions. I would hate to make a box and for the tea bags not fit. I am a coffee drinke...
