I was watching one of Marcs videos the other day and he was using his chop saw to cut the end off of a board. The video was a very tight shot of the saw, I assume it’s a Festol. What I saw was that his saw had a factory rubber “boot” of sorts that was behind the blade used to direct the dust up and into the waiting dust extraction system. Part 2: Dog Food

Well the bag the dog food comes in anyway. I reuse 30lb dog food bags as trash bags. They make excellent trash bags because they are heavy duty and the paper inside is waxed. I drink soda like most people drink water so the waxed paper inside keeps any spillage, yeah right, under control. I keep one bag for trash and one for recycled cans, we have a 5¢ deposit on cans. The bags last a very long time. My dog hasn’t eaten puppy food for quite some time now. lol

Part 3: Dishwasher Rinse Aid Bottles

Here is another one of the things that I like to reuse around my shop: They are Dishwasher Rinse Aid Bottles. The brand is the local store brand but the name brand bottles that I’ve seen are about the same. What I like about these is that the hole is much smaller than a typical glue bottle. It always seems like when I need a little glue in a small area, the larger opening standard glue bottle gets glue everywhere. The other advantage is that the glue doesn’t bond to the...

Part 4: A Miss

Here’s one that didn’t work. I picked up a bag of 1-1/4” hose at the hardware store that’s sold for sump pumps. Visually, it looks almost identical to 1-1/4” vac hose, almost. I had visions of using it to make some sort of sanding / dust collection station, similar to the Festool vac using my ShopVac. So it’s a 1-1/4” hose what’s the big, deal right?
