First Shop Jig...of sorts

I’ve been playing with boxes recently and was having trouble bringing my 1/4” plywood down to 1/8” to fit into slots. I went off to buy a zero clearance plate for my tablesaw but the local Woodcraft did not have what I needed. So I bought a piece of coated plywood (Green in the picture) and using the original (Red in the picture) as a template, routed a perfect match. Drilled 4 1/4” holes and moved the set screws from the original to the new and presto, works like a charm.

I still have a ton of the coated plywood left, so there will be a few more jigs created…that stuff ain’t cheap, but neither were the commercial plates.

Adirondack Chair

Well, It’s finally done…or pretty much done. I still need to plug a couple of screw holes and then determine whether or not to finish it. The wood is Cypress, the plans and templates came from WoodCraft. My youngest says it’s the most comfortable chair he’s ever sat in. He also says I’m the best chair maker he knows…then quickly follows that up with the fact that I’m the only chair maker he knows…a wise a## at 7…

This was probably the first large project I ever did, I have wood roughed out for #2, but wanted to get one done so that I could apply what I learned to a better #2.

Anyone have any thoughts as to whether or not I should finish this with anything? I understand that cypress will lest forever even when not finished and weather to a pewter grey.

Thanks for looking
