Carpe Mens Mentis #2: Learning More About Sketchup

« Part 1: Small Scale Bot's Got Brains, or Does it? Part 2 of Carpe Mens Mentis series no next part

With a lot of help from DaveR, I have started to learn a little bit about using sketchup. After finishing my fence layout in sketchup I decided to try my hand at designing a little rover robot. This was a much more challenging project than my previous one. It was a fun experience, and I plan to start getting more complex in my designs as I am slowly learning how to create my Army of digital minions! Har Har Har!

This little one is a roving video bot. The two antennas on the back are for control & transmission of live feed video.

Sorry these photos are pretty large, so you will need to click on them to view them full size.

Very nice Chris. So what kind of wood are you going to build it out of? :-)

hehe, probably mdf. Atleast until I get a CNC machine up and running for cutting metal. I guess my next blog will have to be about building torsion boxes or something so I don’t get thrown off the site. lol.

Thanks Chris. Sorry for posting things that don’t really have a lot to do with “woodworking” from the standpoint of making heirloom pieces. I do a lot of woodworking, but it is aimed in more of an inventing direction. I really love looking at the work that you guys do!

Yeah to pluck/pick or seize minds. I like that phrase for working with robotics, since you are “creating” a mind.

DaveR is the guy named DaveR right above this comment. =)
