About 3 weeks ago I decided I needed a bandsaw. I wanted to start building “fine” things such as furniture and didn’t have a machine to easily cut curves with. All I had used before was a jigsaw (and sometimes a router for copying designs). Like usual I check the internet to see what was available. I wanted a Bandsaw at least 12 inches so I could do resawing as well. However most 12 inch bandsaws were $350 minimum, I wanted to spend no more than $150 since I can’t real...

Part 2: Construction and Design

Construction of the bandsaw So far has been going on for about a month. The main frame consists of a 4×4 treated post and 2 particle board panels (top and bottom). The panels are grooved into the back of the post. I assembled the bottom of it very quickly. Everything sits on an old end table and wider sub-table to hold the bandsaw.
