I made a Teddy Bear like this for a Wood Magazine Toy Contest, a few years back. I made some more for my Grandkids. The one I made for the contest was Black Walnut.

The dimensions of my bear is 3 1/2” X 4X 6 1/4”. I hollowed out the inside on the lathe, before carving, but it could be done with a Forstner bit. I purchased a musical coin slot from Cherry Tree that plays Teddy Bear Picnic when you drop a coin in. The one pictured doesn’t have the coin slot. These are carved from Basswood.

You may copy this if you wish.

My Sweety just showed me a music box Teddy Bear I made for her, & I forgot all about it.

It plays the song, ”Teddy Bear Picnic”

How do you keep the round bottom in Dick on the bank bears, is it threaded? mike

It looks like a hole that has been counterbored, but that is a good question.

It’s counter bored with a ledge. If you look close you can see the small screws.
If your on internet explorer 7, you can enlarge the image to 150% by clicking down in the lower right corner.

Yes, now that you mention it, I can see the small screws. Nice touch.

I forgot to mention that the hole reduces down, starting at the neck.

Dick, those are nice! Thanks, too for the tip on the image enlarging. I never knew that that feature existed.
