I'm 77 years young, & have been married to my beautiful bride Barbara for over 58 years.
We have 2 fine sons, 5 grandchildren, & 2 Great grandsons'.

I have been retired for 18 years. I was a heavy equipment mechanic supervisor at the time of retirement.

Barb, has been a stay at home Mom throughout our marriage. After our Kids flew the nest, she's been taking care of me, the Grandpa now.

I have always been a woodworker. You name it, & I've made it, in some form , or another.
I do woodcarving, wood turning, cabinets, chairs, carpentry, rustic furniture, & I have even built an electric guitar for one of my sons.

GLad to be here Dick .. I looked at some of your photos .. All I can say is .. you sure like to carve .. and Wow you sure have some very nice projects. I really liked ther dump truck. I would love something like that to give to my brother … I would never dream of even trying to carve … Takes way to much patience. I will stick to my power tools …and cabinets / furniture ….

Thanks for the compliment Ronl.
I might end up having to buy a larger size hat now.
You should try carving, you could get hooked on it though. It’s kind of addictive.

In the past I remember some one telling us about a place where we can sell our products for free. Can anyone help me find where I can sell. I would like to get something started to where I can sell some of my works. Thank You Jim Earl

I tried the glue and water on a scrap piece of wood and then spayed it with clear laquer and it turned out a nice piece. after doing this I used the same system on both woodburned wall clocks and they both turned out real nice I think. It not only made all the wood stick together but also gave a deep look to the finish. Look at the two pieces and tell me what you think. thank you Jim

Dick

You should build yourself a topper toolbox. Actually, you should make both the rollaway and the topper to match. Progress pics would be fun, and if you need any data, just ask.

Dick,
Maybe you can help me. I have been trying to up load a picture to my profile. I am using Safari on a Mac and for some reason it just will not upload. I have found a picture and choose it and then click on upload and I get a blank page – I let it sit there for awhile but when I check back I have no picture listed. Am I doing something wrong. Bob

Dick your son is a long way from home living in Hot Springs. Hot Springs is a nice place. I’m about 3 to 4 hours north of there. Hot Springs seem to be growing as fast as NW Arkansas.

I just checked the map. We’ve driven through their many times over the years. That’s beautiful country, but we could never survive the heat down there. It’s too hot for us when it hits the mid 80s. My son has has been their for over 30 years, & survived.LOL

It is a beautiful part of the state. You would not think that AR. would be so hot, but it will be in the 80’s today. For the last three or four years we have not had much of a winter. My wife is from Michigan, so she does not deal with the heat and humidity well either.

Dick,

Just watched your deck slide show and it brought back many memories of a very similar setting as my family used to live on a similar sized lake in northern WI (a bit more east of your cabin). I still rcall helping Dad (who just passed away 10 months ago) building decks and docks in the north woods with all it had to offer.

“don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got til its gone” LuLu.

Very nice job on the deck especially the way you have shoehorned it into the current layout of God’s back yard., It looks like you have made your nirvana just a bit easier to enjoy (dont forget the mosquito repellant).

Hello from Japan.
You left me a nice message in my project page, but I just didn’t reply it then, how rude!!! SORRY.
And now I checked your projects and so surprised you have so many!!!
I think the way you spend time together and woodworking is something I want to do when I retire.
