I am a retired police chief, well disabled but old enough to be retired, well to tell the truth, probably just tired. At any rate, I am a beginning woodworker, of the past two years I have picked up a lot of ww tools, such as a table saw, band saw (with blown tire on on wheel) several routers, one mounted in a table made out of a commercial tv stand for one of those HUGE television, I picked up for 20 bucks at a state surplus outfit, purchased a plate and mounted my Craftsman router, works great, made a nice fence for it, I also have two of those little router tables one with an old Craftsman router in it as well, those cheap ones made by Craftsman. Also have one of those electric planes which I want to make a jointer out of, that is how I found this site, searching for a project where this was done. Anyhow I have a bunch of other woodworking crap but nothing to be proud of, you know squares bits, drill press, belt/disk sander left over from my days as a gunsmith. (Ya I have lots of hobbies but I only work on one at a time).

I have also spent some time writing fiction, had a few short stories published, one ended up in an anthology on time travel, that was exciting when it happened, too bad it didn't pay anything, just a few copies of the book. I have a degree as a paralegal but only use that now when the kids or mom need some paperwork done.

My latest project is getting our motor home (96 Holiday Rambler) ready for next spring when we plan on doing some real traveling, Need to build up the couch some privies owner put in to replace the original equipment, as well as a HUGE recliner that they put in, way too large for the MH but about the right size for my 6'2" 225 pound frame.

Anyhow I need to build a base for the couch since all the legs are weak and the hind legs are broken off completely so I plan to frame it out with MDF around the bottom, put some slides in so it can slide out for making into a bed as our daughter likes to camp with us and needs a bit more then a regular couch to sleep on. Also need to build some cabinets and magazine rack for the inside. Only problem, the early blizzard that hit our area took the power cable down to my shop so all my power tools sit unused, just as well as the temps have been hovering around -15 F.
