I am a retired cop. I worked for the same agency for 32 years and spent over half my career as a Commander. That was too long in a position with that degree of pressure. I think my hobbies were my pressure release. Funny thing about stress, most of us don't recognize the severity of it until we no longer have it.
I have been woodworking for about 30 years, on and off, mostly off. I certainly do not have 30 years of accumulated talent, but I still love doing it. My greatest challenge with this hobby is that I also love tennis and photography. I'm not one who can stay consumed with an interest several hours a day for years on end. I admire that trait. I just don't have it.
My dream is a stand-alone shop. I don't see that coming any time soon because of the economy (along with two kids in college). But I'm happy with my garage shop. Some people have to roll all their tools against the wall at the end of each session. I have dedicated spots for my floor tools, and plenty of shelving, so life is good.
My projects run the gamut of simple furniture, toys, bookcases, gifts. My regret is that I have only recently started documenting and photographing my projects. That's how life goes, huh? I'm a trained photographer, and I haven't photographed a tenth of my work. What's that saying about the cobbler's children’s shoes?...
BTW - My first name is Steve, not Charlie. "Charlie2" was my last radio call sign before I retired.

Hello Charlie,
