Related to the “Clamp Rack – Build or Buy” forum thread…

The attached photos are suggestions for folks with limited time to save a bunch of money on a rolling clamp rack, without expending much time. This one is ~ 6 feet tall, sitting on a 20×36 base. None of the dimensions are at all critical.

I built this thing in one session, of about 1 – 1-1/2 hours. The materials were ultra cheap, 2x, sheathing plywood, deck screws, a few carriage bolts, nails, and some Grizzly wheels. The clamp supports themselves can be unscrewed and changed as the collection evolves. using 8 foot 2x’s yielded cutoffs that became crossbars.

- The base is a simple box, made from 2×6 sides and 2×4 ends, attached to plywood. The base supports the a-frame, and provides easy wheel mounting. I keep weights, band clamps, cauls, pads, etc… in the base.

- The uprights are basic ladders attached at the top with plywood gussets. These attach inside the base with carriage bolts.

Nest the clamps on the crossbars, no special fixtures are required. The whole idea came from the Bessey display at my local tool pusher.
