I am looking at advice on purchasing a router table. Anyone with good advice on this topic would be much appreciated. This will be my first router table and I am looking at both Benchdog and Kreg. I need one that I can roll around my shop, so portability is essential. I am considering buying a top and fence and building my own cart/stand.

I figured with all the experts here I can get some really great guidance. THANKS!

Ditto on that, it's truly the ONLY way to get exactly what you want. And if you find out after using it that you'd change something then guess what… you already have the skillset to accomplish it. BTW, I built my two holer about four years before I finally mounted it as the side table on my tablesaw. I'd just clamp it to a couple of saw horses, install the routers and have at it. When I was done, I dismounted the routers and leaned the top against a wall out of the way. Good luck.

Hi Bill

Just noticed this forum of yours. You probably already got a router table but the one I would have recommend is a bench dog. I am buying there ProTop phenlic table top, prolift router lift, and using a PC 7518 3 1/4 HP router in it. I plan on building a cabinet on the end of my table saw.

God Bless

I've got a pro-top that I clamp to a couple saw horses. Coupled with the tall kreg fence and it suits me just fine.

I spent a couple years running it by hand and finally decided that I couldn't decide on a pre-built cabinet or stand, or even a set of plans, so the top is doing it for me.

Thanks everyone for the advice -

I purchased the Kreg large table and Kreg Fence and a Triton Router (2 1/4 hp/ Variable Speed- great reviews and has table top adjustment ) - The Kreg fence has a built-in offset adjustment to do jointing-

I am in the process of building a maple base cabinet with doors and drawer storage with dust collection, will also add casters to the cabinet to make it all mobile.
Since I already havea PC 690LR plunge / and Bosch Colt trim router for off table project work, thus I will be able to leave the Triton on the table- this seemed like giving me the "best of all worlds

Appreciate everyone's input and help - I also learned quite a bit from some of the postings on other LJ Forums for this project-THANKS to all
