This is a Lori Irish design which was offered by Lori as an on line seminar through Wood Carving Illustrated. (http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/f58/irish-pyrography-seminar-45085/) I found the seminar very helpful and I finally got the project finished tonight. I burned the design onto birch plywood using the Razortip tools. I photographed the picture with various lightings, hence the different color effect. The third photograph is more true to the picture.

This knot was cut in mahogany on my scroll saw.I carved the detail in with a small carving knife and finished it with Danish oil. this was my first attempt at wooden jewelry. If I was to do a lot more jewelry i would need to do some research on suppliers for jewelry findings. I was not happy with the pin.
Thank you for looking. Any comments are welcome.

I then carved in the detail using a small carving knife. I finished it with Danish oil. I had a challenge finding a clasp to attach the chain. I ended up using a clasp from an old piece of jewelry.
Thank you for looking. Any comments always welcome.

I made this box from mahogany and yellow cedar. I cut the box using the scroll saw and chip carved the celtic design on the lid. I also chip carved a celtic knot on the inside of the lid. The mahogany is easier to chip carve than the yellow cedar.
Thanks for taking the time to look.

I used one of Steve Good’s patterns to make these trays in red cedar. On one of the trays I carved a butterfly on the end – not very successfully. Red cedar is not good for carving! I cut out a butterfly on the scroll saw using mahogany and overlaid it on the second box. Two more projects completed to add to the Christmas list!

I scrolled the blanks from oak and carved in the detail. The brooch pin was carved from basswood. I’m not sure what the wood on the open knot clock was. I submitted the open knot clock into the Monroe Carving show last April and won second place.
