Location: Grand Rapids, MI

I'm a canoe builder. Specifically a cedar strip canoe builder. Hence the nickname, Cedarbender. My wife and I have graduated two sons through home schooling and they have gone on to their own careers. One has gone into wooden boat building in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and the other is wrapping up his bachelor's in Digital Animation.

I'm personally looking to expand my skill sets and training myself in other areas to do that. Canoe building is my therapy so I do not even try to make a business of it.

My shop is pretty much non-existent. I have a two car garage, a planer, a ShopSmith V, and a handheld Skil Router. I am seriously looking at building a CNC router table to augment what can come out of my "shop" but space is a huge issue.

Happy building!

Welcome, I’ve always had a fascination with canoes. I might build one but we don’t have much water here.
Anyway, glad to have you with us on LJ’s

Holy cow! First forum I’ve come across where comments are actually on the user’s profile. But thanks for the welcome guys. Some of the projects around here are going to be hard to keep up with.
