I'm new to wood woodworking and love an adventure. I am a US Marine through and through; I suppose that's why I love a challenge! Being a "disabled vet" at a youngish age motivates me to reach all of the goals and experiences I set for myself. Wood working feels right. The smell of a fresh cut board, the feel of lumber, and the rich grains that express themselves during finishing... I want to be a part of that.

I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world who encourages and supports my tool/hobbie/exploration habit. She is perusing a masters degree in clinical counseling.

My dog aka the shop Supervisor is the best. She is truly the greatest companion and service dog ever! Her name is Zero and I talk about that silly pit often. She really thinks she's human! Haha!

I'm a quick learner and digest information quickly. I recently retired early and completed a bachelor degree in communication (how humans communicate). I will also be perusing a masters degree in clinical counseling but in the science/research approach rather than arts approach like my wife.

I've been curious about everything my whole life. This is my first time blogging or being apart of a forum or group online. Everyone is really great here so far. There is so much knowledge and technique and LJ's are really inviting and helpful.

A belated welcome to LumberJocks. Thank you for your service to our country. We won’t hold being a Marine against you, after all, every Navy needs a few good Marines…

Look forward to seeing your projects.

And always remember…

Be Careful!

Thank you for making me feel so welcome right away on this forum, Cathie! I loved your profile but I am sorry that you are now disabled from your service…it makes me feel very sad that you were hurt. But it is so awesome that you’ve turned this horrible lemon into lemonade and are making the best of it. I too, am a curious monkey, so woodworking will be a fun adventure.

I’ll be checking out your blog as I have time! Thanks again, you’re awesome!

P.S. We have Molly the Shop Dog—she is our three-legged Border Collie, and we have a Basset and Boxer too…they’ve had their Shop Dog priv’s revoked because they wander around hoovering up unmentionables and barf them up onto our carpet…or worse!

You’re most welcome! Thank you for your kind words. I loved serving and wish I could have for longer. It’s given me the ability to stick with things even when it’s hard work.

You’ve got to know that when I read about your pups… I chuckled about your three legged border collie because I can only imagine the cuteness of her antics. Then I for real laughed and woke up Zero about the others barfing or worse random things!! Hahaha! Only because it’s funny how things so gross are so endearing from those furry kids we adore so much. Ha!

I really can’t wait to see you take on some cool projects! Be prepared to make some mistakes and improvise. It’s gonna be awesome!!!

Have your say...
