A semi-retired civil engineer with a three-season shop, I'm learning basics by copying existing pieces. I enjoy sharp hand tools but also use table-saw, lathe, drill press, band saw, jointer, planer and radial arm saw as the need arises.
My current project, a washstand in poplar, taught me that overly-aggressive sanding can ruin a perfectly mated mortise and tenon joint! Experience, nothing beats it.
