At this point I was thinking the only real way to solve this was to remove the wood infill from the blade side of the sole and replace it with an integrated sole and metal infill; call it a bastard frog, for want of a better term. My plan was to start with a piece of angle iron, since it had one good 90-degree angle (C-Channel might have been better, but I was using what I had on hand), and build up a chunk of steel from the available flat stock I had on hand at the approximate 12 degree bed angle I wanted, braze it all together and then braze that (the bastard frog) onto a new sole piece.
