Since I just completed a major cleaning of my shop, it seemed like a good time to post some pictures. My shop is a 26’ x 13’ room in the basement of my house. It’s an area below the family room that was completely excavated rather than just having a crawl space as many in my neighborhood do. Rather than separate the shop from the rest of the basement with a wall, my wife made me some heavy curtains out of drop cloths. This works fairly well at stopping the dust, without completely shutting off the room.
Along with my tools, there are several old projects that have migrated to the shop. The shaker cabinet was one of the first projects that I made thirty years ago, as was the shelf above the joiner. The tool garage/computer table is made from some left over cabinet doors.
Tools: Delta contractor saw / delta unifence , Jet Joiner, Grizzly bandsaw, Delta 12 1/2” planer, Delta sliding cutoff table , Craftsman bench drillpress, Delta mortiser, and Various power tools / hand tools
The next project is to replace my table saw extension with a router table extension. Other future plans are to improve my dust collection and possibly to construct a closed hanging tool cabinet.

Hi Jim. It looks like you have a nice shop space in which to work. Your shop is about the same size as mine so I know that space is at a premium. It looks like you have organized your shop well and using pegboard to store your hand tools is a good idea in my opinion. I used it on the front wall of my shop. It helps keep hand tools organized and readily available.
You also have a nice set of tools as well. Putting the air cleaner under the saw is a good use of “dead” space. You outfeed table is a good idea as well. Do you plan to route miter slots in it? You also have added a nice bench and storage cabinets to your shop as well. It looks like they give you an effective work space and provide plenty of storage.
Thanks for the pictures. I enjoyed the tour.

Nice shop, I like the idea of a curtian instead of a wall, I am trying to figure out a way to expand my shop at the moment and it is hard to do without investing alot of money because the main wall is load bearing, a curtian would be no problem to move over a few feet (providing the wife lets you lol). Thanks for the post.

An enviable, well equipped and well organized workshop. Many outstanding projects should come up with such a good shop. Wish you very enjoyable days in this new place.

My wife and I had a small paint store for several years. We were lucky enough to realize that the economy was going south and closed the store before we got into serious trouble. One of the side effects is that I have my own paint shaker and lifetime supply of sandpaper and foam brushes.
