Hello All,

I have been lurking in the shades of LJ for a while now and decided join the club and contribute the little that I can. It seems like a great place to exchange ideas and to arm yourself with information for the “Battle of the Shop”.

I am an engineer by training and make sawdust on the weekends. I got started a few years back, acquired what I think is a decent used contractor saw ($100 i think not sure). Pretty well tuned up…all alignments are off by no more than 0.004”. Here is a picture of the saw and a cutoff sledge I built in the last couple of days.

Built a few things to practice joinery/finishing etc. Then I met my wife who, as my first b-day/v-day gift, gave me a Hitachi router. Then I built a few more things. Here are some pictures. It seems I ended up giving away some of what I built some w/o pictures :(. Nothing to write home about…

more of the story to come…

Ahhh, I see you play hopscotch when not wood working or engineering, but to each their own. ;-) I guess your kids play in the workshop as well?

Welcome to LJ. You will find a wealth of information to be had just by asking! Someone here probably knows the answer to whatever question you may have.

Welcome to LJs! As you’ve already noticed it is a great place to learn and talk about woodworking.

Some nice projects you have there!

Ha ha! I have never had anyone walk in that garage and not comment on the hopscotch…the people we bought the house from had a 6-7 year old girl and that should explain why that thing is there. Unfortunately, it does not come off with soap and water so it probably will not be removed for a while…one of the hazards of cleaning up and putting boxes away..reveals floor space and all that which comes with it :)

Thanks for the kind comments about the work
