Last week, we got the usual shipment of new logs brought to our mill. Everything looked great but there was one piece that Bill has never milled before and doesn’t know what it is.

To see the image please visit our blog.

From left to right is Redwood, the unknown lumber, and the unknown lumber’s bark. You can see that this wood is more orange than the redwood. Bill also wants to note that this wood smells a lot like cedar. He has an inkling that it could be a rare Dawn Redwood…but he really isn’t sure.

Any thoughts?

The bark looks more cedar like but…
