no previous part Part 1 of Tools series Part 2: Check your motor brushes on your power tools. »

Here I am trying to clean and organize my shop, told myself that I wont buy any more tools or supplies until I take a full inventory but look what followed me home today. A friend from work over heard me saying I would like to get a radial arm saw and he said that he had one that was collecting dust since his father in law passed away 6 years ago and that I could have it if I wanted it. Of coarse I’m not one to turn down a free tool, especially when its a power tool. So I followed him home tonight and we loaded it up. Its an older craftsman model and according to the manual it does a lot more than rip boards. Now I need to learn how to use it.

Along with the machine came these 2 blade sets, one is a molding cutting blade and the other is a dado blade. I am super excited to use this thing.

Be careful with the molding head. I have a set and have not usedbin years. Better served with a router.

Nice score! Check to see if this saw was covered in the recall … others have gotten some upgrades as part of (I believe) a class action suit.

Nice looking old saw, some people like to just set them up and use them with the dado set, but for free you
can not go wrong.

LOL, my big equipment usually comes by being at the right place at the right time. I have gotten most of my tools free.
