Marking Knife Swap Project

I made this knife for the tool swap . I used bubinga and finished with 6 coats of wipe on poly for durability. The third pic shows the wood before the finish was applied.

The blade was made with O1 steel, shaped, hardened/tempered, and sharpened. The ferrule was made from a copper pipe coupling.

The swap really made me work to bring my ‘A’ game – can’t send junk to a fellow Jock! What a great experience.

Walnut Blanket Chest

This blanket chest was started as a class at Marc Adams School of Woodworking taught by Chris Gochnour. A combination of hand work and power tools. I’m happy with the result – the wife says it can come in from the garage!

The 66 dovetails in this chest were all by hand. I used wipe on poly for the finish.

Chris is a great teacher. If you ever have an opportunity to take one of his classes I would highly recommend that you do.

The mallet on the right is all cherry. Soaked head in BLO for 4 days – hope this was long enough.

It hangs on our house each season. And the early Christmas present was this project required the purchase of a new tool – my first scroll saw!
