Workshop Information

After purchasing a new house in the fall of '13, I unexpectedly adopted woodworking as a new hobby. The main factor that lead to this new interest was realizing that after moving from a 1300 sq/ft townhouse to a 3000 sq/ft home in the suburbs, we were going to need some new furniture to fill all that space, and when I say "realized", of course I mean that my wife told me we were going to need some new furniture…We did have a couch and a TV so I thought we were good to go, but I was wrong. Having never been interested in things like console tables, end tables, and shelving, I had no idea how expensive it was and after a couple of trips to Pottery Barn, I decided it was time to learn some new skills. So I started building, acquiring tools, and watching lots of YouTube videos. So in a little over a year, this is the "workshop" that I have put together. It also functions as a garage most of the time, unless I have a project going that needs some extra space. These pictures are actually a little old, but it still looks pretty much the same with the addition of a router table, and a lot more clutter. I built the workbench last summer and it was my first attempt at anything without a detailed plan (quite a learning experience). I actually got the idea from a LJ post by sgmdwk (http://lumberjocks.com/projects/84179). My version isn't near as impressive as sgmdwk"s Utilitarian Bench, but it gets the job done.
