Being a "low budget craftsman" I try to use as many of other peoples' cast-offs as I can. My work is usually simple in design and form but eclectic in wood selection - Mostly because it's all I have and I have to find a way to make due.
I have a couple different places I get my wood from: There are a few local cabinet shops that I get scraps from (it really is amazing what gets tossed...), I also live near the Martin Guitar shop so I stop by there sometimes to see if they have scraps. I get some beautiful wood from them and it's all machined to exact dimensions - it's just a challenge to make those dimensions work in a piece.
My family is from Vermont and when I visit I take a walk through the woods to look for downed trees and limbs to use too (although I haven't found much yet - but I don't give up hope!)

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless
