pretty good score this time (for me anyway)
My dad and I were out looking for some turning wood this afternoon. We’d been looking for ages when I suggested we have a look up a track where we found THIS last time. Good suggestion….
this is what I took home-
this one weighed about 15 kg (33 pounds) Saw for scale
this one weighs about the same, but its a bit shorter
the beast- this one’s under 2 ft but weighs 25kg (55 pounds)
This was only about 1/3 of what was there. We’re going back next weekend for more. The widest log is about 9 or 10 inches. I am going to flat saw these so I get the most width out of them. There will probly be a few bowl blanks as well.
These pictures were taken when most of the bark was already off. I think these are quite green because the bark was on there very tightly.
This is why they call it scribbly gum; thats the common term for it but i’m not too sure what the real name is. I’ll post pictures once its all cut up and stacked.
