We had the scrap and the need, so we cobbled it together from 3/4 birch plywood and Red Oak.
The cabinet is made in two sections and sanded to 400grit. The plywood is edge banded with 1/4 oak and left 1/16 proud. The barrel slots and inside trim are oak and the butt rest is cedar covered with velveteen.
We made the cove molding out of red oak on the table saw. We face glued two 3/4 oak boards together to get the final thickness we wanted. We finished her off with MinWax Golden Pecan and Red Sedona .

We didn’t want doors as there really wasn’t any need for us personally. If this was for a customer there would have been doors and locks everywhere.
You may notice a place on the top trim that is lighter than the rest, we simply could not get that wood to take any more stain for some reason. Just a wood thang I suppose.
