Hi all. Just sanding a piece of English Yew and in the grain pattern what do I see

Some kind of face?

What do you think?

“The Old Man of the Tree”?
They abound in the “Yew Kay”.

I seem to see a lot of strange faces peering out at me when I cut veneer. I think Sheila may be right ….or maybe we aren’t working the wood….. maybe it’s working us.

creepy – looks like Alf from the old TV show.
I had a bookcase with a scary “face” in it that gave me the creeps as a kid. Merry Christmas!

Maybe there is a Grain of truth in what Yew say. Is that the Face side of the board Martyn? or are you allowing the wood to express itself ok, ok I’ll shut up now

If that is the ‘face’ of the board, Trevor, I don’t know if I am ready to see the backside. ;)

Sure it was Yew and not an Entling Martyn? I hope you don’t wake up with one PO’d Treebeard on Christmas morning. :)

btw – I always enjoyed Droopy as well, though I was more entertained when he would exclaim “I am so happy” while waving a little flag.

Cheers,

David
