Thoughts on acclimatizing wood? - 4 replies

Interested in your thoughts on acclimatizing wood in the shop.Up here in Montreal wood is stored outside in covered or protected warehouses. Not all are heated and these days it’s cold, damp and humid.These are just questions I can think of offhand… Do you acclimatize wood before staring a project?How important do you think it is?...

Right time to ask for a deposit? - 15 replies

If a client accepts that their project will take minimum 3-4 months for delivery and I wouldn’t be actually making the piece for 3 months or so due to current orders, should I ask for a deposit now?I wouldn’t be buying any materials for 3 months either.TIA for any and all replies.

Best method of attaching shelf to tapered leg? - 9 replies

Looking for the best method of attaching a shelf to the tapered legs of a coffee table.Notch in the legs? This way the shelf corners can be left as is. Tapering 3 inch legs - 8 replies

Making 3" tapered legs - 2 replies

Any suggestions on making the 3”(at the top) legs for this table?Wood will be walnut.I’m more concerned with the grain orientation and the glue line.Was thinking of simply gluing two thick pieces together, matching the grain of the 2 halves best as I can, and then tapering them.Thanks in advance.
